The Indian Super League enters the fifth season in 2018 with 10 teams participating for glorious trophy. This season the ISL will see 3 mid-season breaks for international matches of Indian national team, giving players enough rest in between the two matches to recover.
There are no tournament favourites, and we expect all the teams to give a close fight considering the balanced composition and respective ISL scores. The ISL unearths some exciting local talent, along with the vastly experienced foreign players. The 5 players from the ISL teams who we predict will shine in the fifth season of the ISL are as follows.
1.Sunil Chhetri (Bengaluru FC) –
Sunil Chhetri, undoubtedly the most prolific Indian footballer, will once again lead the attack for the Bengaluru FC team. Last season Sunil was awarded the Hero of the League for scoring 14 goals which helped his side storm into the finals, with a total of 13 wins in league stage. His vast experience and rich form, will certainly be a boost for his team. Chhetri possesses enough quality to tip any match prediction in Bengaluru’s favour.
2.Tim Cahill (Jamshedpur FC) –
The former Evertonian and the all-time leading goal scorer for Australia will be playing in ISL for the first time. A typical Box-to-Box midfielder known for his heading abilities and an aggressive game play will be leading the attack by an example. The Socceroos legend is the marquee player for the club this season and his presence in the dressing room will have great impact on the young Indian players. Last season Jamshedpur FC lacked in goal scoring department, managing only 16 goals in 18 matches, with Cahill’s arrival, expect them to score plenty this season.
3.Ferran Corominas (FC Goa) –
Corominas also known as Coro was the Golden Boot winner in season 4 of ISL. He scored 18 goals and assisted 5. The former Espanyol striker had scored two hat-tricks (one of which was scored in just 9 minutes) in his first season of ISL.
Surprising fact, in just his first season, Coro became the only player to score against every team in the ISL and According to our football prediction coro will make an impact on the league and have a spectacular season ahead.
4.Jeje Lalpekhlua (Chennaiyin FC) –
The 27-year-old Jeje, will be playing his fifth season for the blues. With great understanding of the game, and ability to score goals freely, he is the highest scoring Indian player, scoring 22 goals and 6 assists to his name in the 4 seasons so far. Jeje was named the AIFF player of the year in 2016.
This season, Jeje will have the responsibility to lead the attack for the Chennaiyin team and continue his supreme form from the previous edition.
5.Lalruatthara (Kerala Blasters) –
The highly versatile defender can play as a left back, centre back and also as a right back. He was named as the ISL Emerging player of the season in season 4. His constant hunger for learning, and his attitude on the pitch has gained many applauds, especially from the team’s coach. With his impressive run last season, Lalruatthara was awarded the national call against Kyrgyzstan and also earned a 3-year contract extension with the Club.
