MUMBAI CITY FC:
Lucian has played 37 matches as a center back for Mumbai City FC and he has earned plaudits for shoring up the clubs backline.
He has been selected as the captain of MCFC for the Indian Super League season 5
During his return to Mumbai city FC, he said “It’s great to be back in Mumbai. I have a great working relationship with coach Alex, and my experience in the ISL was top notch.”
In return, the Mumbai coach replied “I didn’t have to think twice about asking Goian to return. He was a leader on and off the field, and was an integral part of our campaign last season.”
His season 5 displays have been steely even though MCFC have had a circumspect start. We expect more of the same from the big man! Here’s a snippet of his season in numbers –
Lucian & his love for India:
Lucian is very fond of India, its culture & of course the fans.
Recently he was seen singing Indian national anthem prior to the Kerala Blasters vs Mumbai city FC match which was appreciated by the whole country saying it was a proud moment for the nation.
When asked about the national anthem he explained that it has been 2 years for him a MCFC and he has really taken up to the culture and the fans, so it should be no surprise to see him singing along!
It is heart-warming to see an established player like Goian give his 100% week and week out, it is a huge learning curve for the young MCFC players to be playing with someone of his experience. His presence has also allowed the full-backs to push up and aid the attack. The ISL has been making steady strides of really establishing football as the powerhouse sport in India and credit is due to pros like Goian, Hume, and Cahill amongst many others for this!
